We launched the Legal Writing Challenge 2015 in the last e-Newsletter but received no response to the title “The Rule of Law, Not the Rule by Law: A Malaysian Perspective”.

The objective of this competition is to highlight that it is possible to earn CPD points by writing articles for publications in print media (eg books, journals, newspapers and magazines), online media (eg blogs and websites), and a host of other platforms.

Based on the current CPD guidelines, it is possible to earn 1 CPD point for every 800 words published, provided that the publications comprise substantial legal content; and the publications are created for the purposes of legal, professional or community development. This includes in-house publications by law firms, and several law firms already regularly send us copies of their in-house publications so that members of their team can earn CPD points this way.

Legal Writing Challenge 2015 has been renamed Legal Craft Challenge 2016 and the new title is "Is Emerging Technology Submerging the Bar?". Members and pupils participating in this writing competition stand a chance to win a FREE seat to the upcoming International Malaysia Law Conference (“IMLC”) 2016 worth approximately RM1,000!
